SIALKOT, Jan 15: Earlier, politicians would boost themselves with prefixes like sher, quaid, farzand, fakhar etcetera with the name of their city of province.

Now, of the coterie of Chaudhrys of Gujrat, Chaudhry Wajahat Husain has known himself commander of Gujrat, Dawn reveals.

Pakistan Muslim League-Q leaders in Sialkot have hoisted banners inscribed with welcoming notes to ‘Commander of Gujrat’ Chaudhry Wajahat Husain, the younger brother of PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Husain.

Wajahat is touring the district as part of electioneering of the elder Chaudhry contesting election from NA-112, Sambrial.

On Tuesday, the commander addressed a few corner meetings in the constituency wherein speaker after speaker addressed him the commander of Gujrat.

Even though, Gujrat is no garrison, but the Chaudhrys are known to be blue eyed to the military establishment.

The ‘commander’ was accorded official protocol upon his arrival in Sialkot on Tuesday.
