ISLAMABAD, June 7: Lal Masjid clerics on Thursday claimed that Imam-i-Kaaba Dr Sheikh Abdul Rehman Al Sudais supported their struggle for enforcement of Sharia in Pakistan.

They said the Imam extended the support during his meeting with a 12-member delegation of the mosque which called on him at Punjab House in Murree on Wednesday night.

When contacted, Saudi Ambassador Ali Awadh Al Aseeri neither confirmed nor denied the claim made by the Lal Masjid administration about the Imam’s support.

Lal Masjid spokesman said that the Imam was of the view that the government should form committees of ulema for the enforcement of Sharia.

He said the Imam had said that he would definitely visit Lal Masjid if he was allowed by the government to do so.
