KARACHI, Feb 8: MQM Chief Altaf Hussain addressing a public gathering, the last meeting in the run up to the NA250 by-elections, has called upon the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry to help trace the 28 MQM workers missing since the last 10 years.

Speaking at a large public meeting at Burnes Road on Thursday night amid light rain, he urged the CJP to summon then interior minister Naseerullah Babar to learn the whereabouts of the missing workers.

Altaf Hussain paid glowing tributes to party workers who were killed during the PPP government saying at least 15,000 workers were targeted. He said the souls of martyred party workers appear in dreams, “they ask me to take care of their families,” Mr Hussain said.

Chief Minister Sindh Dr Ghulam Arbab Rahim also attended the MQM public meeting announcing support for the MQM candidate Akhlaq Husain Abdi. He said in the Kotri by-election, the MQM had withdrawn in favour of PML(Q). Appreciating the mammoth gathering Dr Arbab Rahim predicted MQM had won.—Staff Reporter
