KARACHI, Dec 2: West Indies vice captain Ramnaresh Sarwan who is forced to return home after a lethal Umra Gul yorker fractured his toe on the fifth day of the third Test here on Friday, said he will emerge a stronger player from the tough tour of Pakistan.

“I wouldn’t say it’s been a nightmare tour for me despite the toe injury and the axing at Multan. Though things didn’t go to plan I see it as an opportunity for me to come back stronger and I'm confident I will,” said Sarwan.

The stylish middle-order batsman, however, expressed his disappointment at missing the ODI series. “I was looking forward to the one-day series but the medics have told me that I will be out of cricket for six weeks and so I will be flying back to Georgetown in a couple of days.”

Commenting on his team’s overall performance in the three-Test series, Sarwan said: “In terms of the tour as a whole, I thought we competed pretty well but we would have liked to have at least drawn the series.

Still there are a lot of positives to come out of it, especially the performances of Jerome Taylor. He bowled really well and I just hope he can continue his development at the current rate. Brian’s batting was also a big plus and he showed again what a great player he is.—Agencies
