Five security personnel killed by landmines

QUETTA, Aug 17: Five security personnel were killed and 12 others injured in two landmine explosions in Dera Bugti and Kohlu areas on Thursday night.

Sources told Dawn that a non-commissioned officer was among the dead.

They said the injured had been taken to a military hospital.

In the Karmo Wadh area of Kohlu, a vehicle carrying security personnel hit a landmine. Three soldiers, Amjad Ali, Tasawar Hussain and Matloob Hussain, were killed and seven were injured in the incident.

The sources said two personnel of the Frontier Corps, including the non-commissioned officer, were killed and five others injured when their vehicle hit a landmine in the Bhambhoor area of Dera Bugti district.

Those killed were Sobedar Kashmir Khan Afridi and Abdul Khaliq Afridi.
