ISLAMABAD: Akamatsu Shuichi, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, inaugurated the Tine Girls Model Primary School in Tarnol, Islamabad, built under a project implemented by a non-governmental organisation.
The Government of Japan provided $44,025 in financial assistance for the project through its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) programme. Officials of the Japanese embassy, CSP representatives, teachers, students, parents and community members attended the inauguration ceremony, according to a press release.
CSP has completed the construction of the school, which comprises eight classrooms and other essential facilities, including a principal’s office, washrooms, a levelled playground and 250 student chairs.
CSP also contributed additional resources to install a solar power system, an underground water storage tank with an electric water cooler, and an interactive smartboard for digital learning.
Addressing the ceremony, Ambassador Akamatsu congratulated CSP on completing the project despite challenging weather conditions.
He said education was not only a fundamental human right and a core pillar of human security but also the foundation of a better and more prosperous society. He added that girls’ education was particularly important for Pakistan’s future.
This was why education remained a key priority of Japan’s development cooperation in Pakistan, he said.
