ISLAMABAD: Uzbekistan Airways, the national airline of Uzbekistan, will introduce additional scheduled flights between Tashkent and Islamabad from October 26, the Uzbek embassy announced.

The embassy said the airline currently operated flights on the Tashkent-Islamabad-Tashkent route twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. “Effective October 26, the flight schedule will be revised, with services operating on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays,” it said.

The additional flights aim to expand passenger transport capacity between Uzbekistan and Pakistan while providing greater convenience for tourists, business travellers and transit passengers.

The revised schedule will offer passengers greater flexibility in planning their journeys and create further opportunities to strengthen business, tourism and cultural ties between the two countries.

According to the embassy, the additional flights are expected to play a particularly important role in increasing the number of tourists travelling from Pakistan to Uzbekistan, promoting pilgrimage tourism and raising international awareness of Uzbekistan’s rich historical and cultural heritage.

“In particular, improved air connectivity will provide greater convenience for tourists wishing to visit Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva. Furthermore, the enhanced flight schedule will reinforce Tashkent’s role as a regional transport hub, creating additional opportunities for organising tourist trips to other Central Asian countries,” the embassy said in its statement.

More than 20,000 tourists from Pakistan visited Uzbekistan in 2025. During the first nine months of the current year, the number reached nearly 20,000, highlighting the considerable potential for further developing tourism ties between the two countries.

Increasing the frequency of flights on the Tashkent-Islamabad route will help strengthen transport connectivity between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, encourage two-way tourist flows and expand trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, the embassy said.

It added that eight scheduled flights were currently operated between Uzbekistan and Pakistan each week.

Of these, four operated on the Tashkent-Lahore route and two on the Islamabad-Tashkent route, while services were also available between Tashkent and Karachi.

With the launch of the additional service, the total number of scheduled flights between Uzbekistan and Pakistan will increase to nine per week.
