GUJRAT: Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain park has been opened to the public in Kunjah, a small town of the district.

It is mainly meant for women and children but males can also use the facility in given time.Federal minister for overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain inaugurated the park built at a cost of Rs50 million provided by the Punjab government.

This is the first ever public sector project named after the former prime minister and PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain in his native district.

Gujrat DC Nurul Ain Qureshi, Assistant Commissioner Abdul Qadeer Zarkoon and other senior officials were also present at the inaugural ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Salik Hussain said the park had been established in response to a longstanding public demand.

The park features a jogging track, landscaped lawns, benches, outdoor gazebos, children’s play equipment, a fountain, lighting, a library and other public amenities.

Separate timings have been suggested for men and women.

According to the administration, men can use the park from midnight to 5am and from 1pm to 3pm, while women can use it from 5am to 3pm.
