LAHORE: The Punjab government has appointed all deputy commissioners (DCs) as interim chairpersons of the newly-established Suthra Punjab agencies in their respective districts.

According to a notification issued on Monday, the appointments have been made under Section 11(2) of the Suthra Punjab Authority Act, 2026, on the directions of the local government and community development minister, who is also vice chairperson of the authority.

The notification available with Dawn stated that DCs had been notified as chairpersons of their respective Suthra Punjab agencies. The appointments are temporary and will remain effective until regular chairpersons are nominated by the chief minister or until further orders.

The DCs will convene and preside over meetings of the agencies and facilitate their statutory, administrative and operational affairs.
