CHINIOT/SARGODHA/TOBA TEK SINGH : Four alleged criminals, including two proclaimed offenders, were killed in three encounters in Chiniot and Sargodha areas.

In the first incident, a proclaimed offender was shot dead during an alleged encounter.

A CCD police team, headed by Sub-Inspector Ansari Abbas, was holding a picket in Chak Bahasa forests on Link Road, Maua Wanaka, when three armed suspects on a motorcycle were signalled to stop. They opened fire on a police party and injured Constable Shah Nawaz.

He survived due to the bulletproof vest he was wearing, while some gunshots hit the police vehicle.

A shoot-out started. After 15 minutes, the guns went silent and police found a suspect, Abu Tura, a resident of Raja Sadat, Chiniot, in an injured condition, saying that he was injured by the firing of his own accomplices who had fled.

Police called Rescue 1122 but the suspect succumbed to his injuries before the arrival of rescue workers.

Police said Abu Tura was allegedly involved in 31 criminal cases starting from 2019.

He was arrested in 21 cases, convicted in three cases and was acquitted and discharged in six cases. He was declared as a proclaimed offender and court absconder in four remaining cases.

The CCD Police Station registered a case against him and his two fleeing suspects.

In another incident, two suspected robbers were killed in an encounter with CCD in Faisalabad.

Police sources said a joint CCD team along with police raided a place near Dial Garth Chow, Chak Huma, to arrest criminals when five suspects opened fire on the team. When the encounter stopped, police saw two of the suspects injured by the firing of their accomplices who had escaped.

The injured suspects were shifted to Chak Huma Tehsil Headquarters Hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

They were identified as Umar Shahab and Abdul Muses, residents of Chak 215-RB.

Police alleged that they were involved in snatching Rs3.2m from traders in Factory Area on Sargodha Road, Faisalabad, after injuring them some days ago.

In the third incident that happened in Sargodha, a suspect, involved in murder of a policeman, was killed in an alleged police encounter.

According to sources, Kashia was a proclaimed offender, wanted in a murder case of Constable Afzal Rajah.

In a joint operation of the police and CCD, Kashia, son of Akhtar of Mustafabad, was killed and his body was shifted to the hospital for a post-mortem.
