MANSEHRA: A man allegedly killed his sister and sister-in-law in the name of honour in the Khawajgan area of the district.

“We have shifted the bodies of the slain women to a nearby health facility for medico-legal formalities,” Ashraf Khan, the additional station house officer of Khaki police station, told reporters on Thursday.

Mohammad Sajawal allegedly fired at and killed his sister, Bukhtawar Bibi, 17, and her sister-in-law, Momina Bibi, and managed to flee on Wednesday night.

Mubashar Ali, while lodging the FIR with the police stated that his sister, Momina Bibi, was married to their neighbour, Umar Khalid, some two years ago and they had a child.

He added that Bukhtawar Bibi, the sister-in-law of his sister, had left her home, following which the family lodged a kidnapping FIR with the Khaki police about two weeks ago. The police recovered her from Multan, Punjab.

“The family of the accused took Bukhtawar Bibi back home some five days ago after completing the legal and court formalities,” Mr Ali said.

He said that his sister Momina Bibi had gone to the neighbours’ house and, in her absence, the accused killed Bukhtawar Bibi.

Mr Ali added that his sister rushed home after hearing gunshots and found Bukhtawar’s body lying in a pool of blood. At the same time, the accused fired at her, leaving her seriously injured. She succumbed to her injuries on the way to a health facility.

He stated that the accused allegedly thought his sister was involved in the elopement of Bukhtawar Bibi to marry a person of her choice.

The police rushed the bodies to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital and handed them over to the families after completion of medico-legal formalities.

The police, after registering the FIR under sections 302, 114 and 311/34 of the PPC, started raids to arrest the accused.
