ISPARTA (Turkey): A Turkish Airlines Boeing 727 on a flight from Italy to the Turkish Mediterranean resort of Antalya crashed late last night and all 154 passengers and crew aboard were feared dead, officials said today [Sept 20]. Transport Minister Nahit Mentese said 125 of the 147 passengers … were foreigners, mostly Italian and German. Kemal Ziya Ozturk, an independent Deputy and former Vice-President of the National Assembly, was among [those] killed… . … The Transport Minister said the last word from the pilot was that he was descending from 13,000 feet to 12,000 feet.

[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies from New Delhi], the lifting of Press censorship for foreign correspondents in India, as well as relaxing of restrictions on the local Press, hardly means a return to complete freedom of the Press. The Indian Government still retains the power to clamp down … on foreign reporters, according to interpretations in political circles of Information Minister V.C. Shukla’s surprise announcement yesterday [Sept 19]. Mr Shukla told foreign correspondents … that there would be no pre-censorship of their reports… . But [he said] … the office of the censor would continue… .
