GILGIT: Pakistan and China held joint patrolling exercise at Mantika Pass, at an altitude of approximately 4,700 metres, near Khunjerab top situated in upper Hunza area of Gilgit-Baltistan, according to a statement issued by GB Police on Wednesday.

The area is situated near Khunjerab top between Pakistan and China. The statement said Khunjerab Security Force (KSF) covered a challenging two-day journey through high-altitude terrain to reach the designated meeting point.

“The exercise [on Tuesday] reflects the enduring friendship and close relations between Pakistan and China and reinforces the commitment of both countries to enhanced cooperation, coordination and mutual support,” the statement added.

Earlier in the month of May this year, joint patrol exercises were also con­ducted between the KSF and the Chi­nese military at the Khunjerab Pass.

The purpose of the joint exercises was to strengthen Pakistan and China border security, promote mutual cooperation and reinforce friendly relations between the two neighbouring countries.
