KARACHI: A judicial magistrate on Friday remanded vice chairman of a Lyari union committee Malik Fayyaz in police custody in a case pertaining to firing on the office of PPP MNA Qadir Patel in Clifton.

The investigating officer of the case produced the suspect before the duty magistrate (South) and submitted that the suspect was held in an attempted murder and terrorism case registered at the Boat Basin police station.

However, since terrorism charges had been included in the case, the magistrate granted the police one-day transit remand and directed the IO to produce the suspect before the administrative judge of the anti-terrorism courts on Saturday (today).

On Aug 10, MNA Patel was sitting in his office in Block-5, Clifton, when occupant of a white jeep fired seven / eight shots towards the office at about 02:30am. Later, they managed to escape.
