TOBA TEK SINGH: A youth drowned when a speeding tractor-trolley plunged into a canal near the Dharoopa bridge on Shorkot-Qaim Bhawana Road on Friday when its driver tried to save a motorcycle rider. All four persons sitting on the trolley fell into the water and area people managed to rescue three of them, however, one Haider Saleem (18) of Chak 16 Gagh, Shorkot drowned.
Rescuers were making efforts to fish out his body from the canal till the filing of this report.
Meanwhile, a man was electrocuted while reciting Azan in a mosque on Sargodha Road near Nalka Kohala bus stop in Faisalabad.
According to Rescue 1122, Ramzan (20) touched a live wire of the mic and received an electric shock and died instantly. Prayer leader Qari Ghulam Rasool (40) attempted to rescue him but he too received an electric shock and became unconscious. He was shifted to the Allied Hospital.
In another incident in Faisalabad on the Sheikhupura road, a speeding motorcycle slipped and fell on the road. The biker, identified as Majid (45), was shifted to the Allied Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
DEMAND: Citizens of Jhang have urged Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to direct the officials concerned to ensure effective functioning of the outpatient department (OPD) of the Jhang DHQ Hospital.
They demanded free surgical services for deserving patients and availability of senior consultants and specialists in all major departments during the evening shift.
They stressed that diagnostic and surgical facilities should remain operational round the clock and demanded effective monitoring of doctors and paramedical staff.
E-challan: The e-challan system has begun operations in Toba district.
This was announced during a joint press conference where Toba DPO Akhlullah Tarar and Safe City Faisalabad Region SP Razaullah Khan gave a briefing regarding the system.
Mr Khan said that various traffic violations would be identified through modern AI technology, including riding a motorcycle without helmet, using a mobile phone while driving, not wearing a seat belt, triple riding, underage driving and overloading.
