BAHAWALPUR: The Tibba Sultanpur Police of Vehari district claimed to have arrested a fake faith healer from Murree and recovered an abducted woman.

According to a police spokesperson, Noor Muhammad Pathan claimed to be a spiritual healer and had been treating issueless women in the area. The suspect allegedly abducted one Shamim from her house on the pretext of spiritual treatment for a child.

After the alleged abduction, the victim’s husband approached Vehari DPO Tassadaq Hussain, who ordered the Tibba Sultanpur police to register a case. He also formed a special investigation team, led by SHO Saqib Nazir, to trace and recover the woman.

The spokesperson said the team, with the help of latest technology and geofencing, traced the fake pir and the woman to Bannu and later Murree.

The team arrested the faith healer and the woman was returned to her family, he added.

KIDNAP: The Bahawalpur Civil Lines Police on Wednesday registered an abduction case of a Government Sadiq College Women University (GSCWU) student, six days after she went missing.

According to the FIR registered on the complaint of her mother Jamila, Haiqa, a third year student, was dropped at the university gate by her brother Ali Rehman on Aug 6. The complainant claimed that since then she did not return home.

When contacted, a police spokesperson said the police had launched a search operation to recover the missing girl.

ELECTROCUTED: One Zahoor (40) was electrocuted when he touched a water pump in his house near Noorpur Pulli on the Bahawalpur-Ahmedpur East highway.

According to Rescue 1122, the deceased’s family refused to shift his body to the hospital and the body was handed over to his family in police presence.

APPOINTMENT: Beenish Fatima has been appointed as the first-ever woman DPO in Lodhran and she assumed her charge on Wednesday.

On her first day, she laid a floral wreath on the police martyrs’ monument in Lodhran and offered Fateh.
