SWABI: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and Safron Amir Muqam has said that PML-N workers kept faith in the leadership of Nawaz Sharif in difficult situations, for which he is grateful to them.

He stated this while talking to reporters at the residence of party leader Malik Syed Imran here on Saturday.

Mr Muqam said that he always respected party workers, listened to their problems and raised them at relevant forums. “I will continue to play my due role to resolve public problems and meet expectations of party workers,” he said.

The federal minister said that despite being out of power for a long time, the PML-N workers stood by the party in KP. “I appreciate the love, loyalty and steadfastness of the party workers,” he said.

He said he had tried to extend a gas line from Swabi to the Chinglai area of the neighbouring Buner district. “A survey was also conducted in this regard; however, later authorities said it was not possible to extend the gas line through the existing system and a special line would have to be laid for this purpose, which would cost billions of rupees,” he said.

He, however, promised to play his role in supplying gas to Buner once the ban on new gas schemes was lifted.

On this occasion, Swabi Press Club general secretary Mohammad Adil highlighted the problems facing mediapersons and requested that a delegation of journalists be given time to meet him in Islamabad.

Mr Muqam promised a meeting next week.

The federal minister said that people can contact him directly regarding their problems. “I will listen to them and will talk to the relevant authorities to resolve their issues.”
