PESHAWAR: The China Study Centre of the University of Peshawar in collaboration with the Peshawar University Teachers’ Association organised the closing and certificate distribution ceremony of its one-month Level-I Basic Chinese Language Certification Course for the children of university employees here.
Sixteen young participants successfully completed the programme introducing them to the fundamentals of the Chinese language and culture. Certified instructor and visiting faculty member Muhammad Irfan conducted the course, guiding learners through basic vocabulary, pronunciation, conversational patterns and cultural insights aimed at opening future educational and professional pathways.
Vice chancellor Meritorious Prof Johar Ali graced the occasion as chief guest and distributed certificates amid applause from parents, faculty members and guests.
Addressing the gathering, the vice chancellor appreciated the joint efforts of the China Study Centre and PUTA. He stressed that such programmes should be expanded so more young learners could benefit from mastering one of the world’s most widely spoken languages.
Prof Johar Ali noted that many Pakistani students travel to China every year under various scholarship schemes. He underlined that proficiency in Chinese language would enable them to communicate effectively, adapt to academic life abroad, improve their chances of securing scholarships and excel in their studies.
He described the China Study Centre as a living symbol of the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China. Referring to China’s rapid strides in information technology, artificial intelligence, innovation and other emerging fields, the vice chancellor said stronger Chinese language education would help Pakistani students and graduates access academic collaborations, technological advancements and promising career opportunities.
Director of the China Study Centre Dr Noor Sanauddin expressed deep gratitude to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Islamabad for its continuous support in promoting Chinese language learning and strengthening academic and cultural ties.
He thanked the vice chancellor, faculty, parents and participants for their cooperation that made the course a success.
