Dispute over water supply claims two lives in Shangla

SHANGLA: Two persons were killed, and another was injured when rival groups traded fire over a water supply line dispute in the Balkanai area of Kana tehsil here on Wednesday, the police said.

Olandar police station SHO Nisar Khan said that there had been a dispute over the water supply issue between two groups, which turned deadly.

He said members of one group were repairing a mini power station when they were attacked by the other side, resulting in the death of two persons and injuries to another.

Mr Khan said that the bodies and the injured were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital, Alpuri.

He said that several suspects were taken into custody after the clash, adding that the first information report was registered at the Olandar police station under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The SHO said Mohammad Akram and Khursheed, residents of the Balkanai area, had a dispute over water supply.

He said that both sides, armed with weapons, traded fire, in which Sarzameen and Saeed Mian from one side were killed on the spot. The police official said that another person was injured in the incident.
