OKARA: A locally influential man and his 26 accomplices were booked by Basirpur police for torturing a tailor and his two cousins, taking them hostage and snatching money from them for demanding stitching charges from him.
As per the first information report (FIR), the complainant, Rashid Ahmed, a tailor, along with his cousins, Usman and Fayyaz, was going to Basirpur from Faizabad village, when on Muhammad Nagar Road, more then two dozen persons, led by the suspect, Ahmad Hasan, intercepted them.
The FIR says that Hasan asked his son Khurram and others to thrash Rashid and his cousins for demanding tailoring charges for stitching his suits.
The complainant alleges that the suspect Hasan and his accomplices, including Khurram, Barish Ali, Ashraf, Talha, Zahid, Naveed, Haider, Ahmad, Arif, Waheed, Bilal and Ghulam Muhammad and some unidentified men, subjected him and his cousins to brutal torture, took them hostage at gunpoint and snatched Rs55,000 from them.
He says that the suspects went away when some passersby gathered there.
On being informed of the incident, a police team reached the spot and verified the incident.
The police say that Hasan, an area influential, wanted to get his clothes stitched by Rashid free of cost and subjected him and his two cousins to torture for demanding stitching charges.
The police have registered a caseunder sections 379, 341, 148 and 149 of the PPC against the suspect and his accomplices.
‘SUICIDE’ CASE: The husband of a woman, who was found dead in her house at Jandraka village,along with her three minor children, has stated that neither he had any enmity with anyone, nor his wife and children were murdered.
In a written application submitted to the Ravi police, Riaz said his wife, Fiza, might have committed suicide after poisoning their three children -- Dawood Riaz, Junaid Riaz and Dua Fatima.
A couple of days back, Fiza and her three children were found dead in their house and Ravi police are investigating into the matter.
As per sources, the police also suspects that the deceased woman committed suicide after poisoning her three children.
However, District Police Officer Dr Assad Ejaz Mallhi says that the facts of the case would be finalised in the light of the chemical analysis reports of the bodies.
ARRESTED: Saddar police claimed to have arrested a man and two women, who were nominated in the murder case of a married woman.
The victim, Nasreen, wife of Khalid Javed, was found murdered in her parents’ house on last Saturday night.
On the complaint of the victim’s husband, Khalid, Saddar police had registered a case against Nasreen’s two sisters -- Saima and Aasiya -- and Aasiya’s husband Naveed, along with some unidentified persons.
Khalid alleged in the complaint that the suspects murdered his wife to grab her inherited property. The police have claimed that the three nominated suspects have been arrested and being interrogated.
