TOBA TEK SINGH: As many as 16 employees of the Faisalabad Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) have been suspended on Saturday for being absent during the recent rains.

Faisalabad Wasa Managing Director Saqib Raza suspended the officials of the operations directorate and directed the deputy director to submit a report within three days after holding an inquiry.

The MD had directed all operations staff to ensure attendance at their assigned points after rains were predicted in the city. When he visited various sub-divisions during the rain on Friday night, he took action against the 16 absent officials, including two supervisors. The MD clarified that the absence of any official during the rains was not acceptable.
