KARACHI: The Sindh government has decided to establish a special one-window facilitation desk at New Sabzi Mandi to facilitate transporters.

Chairing a meeting of the Transport and Mass Transit Department, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the purpose of the one-window facilitation desk is to provide freight and commercial vehicles arriving in Karachi with facilities for the issuance and renewal of route permits, fitness certificates and other essential documents at a single location.

He stated that the primary objective of this initiative is to bring the maximum number of commercial and freight vehicles into the Sindh government’s digital and automated system by June 30, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, timely service delivery to transporters and the achievement of targets set for the financial year 2025-26.

Mr Memon, who also holds the portfolios of transport and information, said that the facilitation desk will be made fully operational by the next week.

He added that all necessary arrangements, including staff deployment, awareness campaigns, banners and public notices are being finalised to ensure that transporters can fully benefit from this facility.

He said that the Sindh government is rapidly implementing the vision of complete digitisation in the public services and transport sector and more efficient, transparent and convenient services are being provided to the public and transporters through modern technology.
