ISLAMABAD: A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of DIG Islamabad Mohammad Jawad Tariq to review security arrangements for Muharramul Haram.

In the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the law and order situation during Muharram, security arrangements, traffic management, and the protection of religious gatherings and processions.

DIG Tariq directed all officers to ensure foolproof security arrangements throughout Muharram and to effectively implement a comprehensive security plan to provide maximum protection to participants of majalis and processions.

He further instructed that patrolling at sensitive locations be increased and that search and combing operations be made more effective.

All officers were directed to maintain close coordination with the administrators of Imambargahs, peace committees, and local community leaders to ensure a timely response to any untoward situation.

He also ordered a detailed review of procession routes and directed that bushes, wild vegetation, and other obstacles along these routes be cleared.

The DIG further instructed that an effective checking system be implemented at the city entry and exit points, Imambargahs, places of worship, and other sensitive locations.

He emphasised enhancing surveillance, monitoring, and overall security oversight across the city.

He also directed that citizens participating in majalis and processions be thoroughly screened using metal detectors and other modern security equipment.

DIG Tariq stated that the traffic police would remain active during Muharramul Haram to ensure smooth traffic flow and that a special traffic management plan would be chalked out for the convenience of citizens.

He reaffirmed that the protection of citizens’ lives and property, maintenance of law and order, and ensuring a peaceful environment during Muharramul Haram remain top priority of Islamabad police. He pledged that all available resources would be utilised to achieve these objectives.
