KARACHI: Sindh Food Minister Makhdoom Mehboobuz Zaman has put traders and flour mills on notice over rising bread and flour prices, ordering district administrations to submit detailed reports on wheat stocks, supply chains and suspected profiteering.

In a strongly worded statement, Mr Zaman said artificial shortages and unjustified price hikes would not be tolerated under any circumstances, and directed authorities to take strict action against those found destabilising the market.

“Protecting consumers from exploitation is the top priority of the Sindh government,” he said. “No one will be allowed to take undue advantage of the situation.”
