TOBA TEK SINGH: Two people were critically injured in indiscriminate firing by their rivals outside the district courts complex in Faisalabad on Monday.
Police said the two groups had a longstanding enmity and several cross-cases had already been registered against them at Madina Town police station. After appearing before Additional District and Sessions Judge Fawad Arif in an under-trial case, members of one group allegedly opened fire on their rivals outside the court complex.
As a result, Muhammad Safdar Dogar of Chak 208-RB and Muhammad Umar of Rasool Park sustained serious injuries. They were shifted to Allied Hospital for treatment.
Kotwali police arrested two suspects, identified as Muhammad Adnan and Waqas Ali Dogar.
ARRESTED: Faisalabad’s Gulberg police on Monday arrested three staffers of a café for allegedly arranging a dance party at the café.
According to the FIR registered under sections 292-C and 509 of the Pakistan Penal Code and the Punjab Regulation and Control of Loudspeakers and Sound Amplifier Ordinance, café owner Zia Mustafa, manager Munir Ahmad, accomplice Muhammad Ali and six others were seen in a video circulating on social media in which an unidentified girl was allegedly performing ‘obscene’ dances to songs.
Gulberg Station House Officer Abdul Ghaffar said the arrested suspects were identified as Aftab, Faizan and Muhammad Ali, while raids were being conducted to arrest the remaining suspects.
DROWNS: A mentally-challenged youth drowned in the Mailsi Link Canal near Talamba in Mian Channu tehsil of Khanewal district on Monday.
According to Rescue 1122, the deceased identified as Chand suddenly jumped into the canal. Rescuers later recovered his body.
Meanwhile, on Talamba-Abdul Hakim Road, a speeding motorcycle collided with a van ahead of it, leaving motorcyclist Muhammad Imran (25) critically injured. He died on the spot.
OIL TANKER: A worker died after falling into an oil tanker at a poultry feed manufacturing factory near Chak 77-GB on Satiana Road in Faisalabad on Monday.
According to Rescue 1122, Abdul Rehman, 42, a resident of Lodhran, was cleaning the top of the tanker from outside when he slipped and fell into the tank filled with protein oil. He drowned before he could be rescued.
Rescue officials later pulled out the body from the tanker.
