LAHORE: A Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly member, Ghulam Mohiuddin Dewan, has reportedly been arrested by police in a raid on his residence here on Friday.
Initial reports and a video clip surfacing on social media suggests that the PTI leader was forcefully taken in custody from his Ichhra residence.
The family of Mr Dewan also released a video which captured policemen, some of them in plainclothes, allegedly forcing their entry into his residence by scaling its boundary wall and the main gate, before taking him out.
The PTI declared the incident a blatant violation of the law, saying the policemen breached the sanctity and privacy of its leader’s home and forced their entry without any female personnel.
A spokesperson for the party’s Lahore chapter alleges that during the raid, the police pointed weapons at the children and women and scared them while arresting Mr Dewan.
He alleges the police also took away the DVR, CCTV cameras, mobile phones and other valuables from the house, condemning the “police aggression” against the party’s senior leader.
