Eid is just around the corner, and everyone is busy preparing for the celebrations in their own special way. While you enjoy playing with your sacrificial animals, don’t forget to make time for fun crafts too.

Today, we are going to make a cute mini paper basket. Although it may not be big enough to carry meat for distribution, it is perfect for candies and chocolates to present to your loved ones.

Things you need:

  1. Hot glue/white glue

  2. Pencil

  3. Markers

  4. Cardboard (colour of your choice)

  5. White paper or patterned paper

  6. Ruler

  7. Scissors

  8. Flowers of beads for decoration (optional)

Directions:

  1. Cut a 6×6-inch square piece of cardboard. Using a pencil and ruler, divide it into nine equal squares. From the top and bottom sides, cut along the lines of the centre squares until you reach the middle square, as shown in picture 2.

  2. Pull the square sections upward, as shown in picture 3.

  3. Make creases along the pencil lines so that you can fold and shape the paper accordingly, picture 4.

  4. Pull the right and left side squares diagonally towards the middle so that it forms a basket shape, and secure them with glue. Repeat this on the other side as well, as shown in picture 5.

  5. Cut the pointed top corners of the basket, picture 6.

  6. Take either a patterned paper or a plain white paper measuring 6 inches long and 2.5 inches wide. In the case of white paper, draw a checkered pattern on it, picture 7.

  7. Turn the paper over. Leave one centimetre from all four sides and draw a one-centimetre-wide line in the middle; picture 8.

  8. Make small slits at the corner squares on all four sides, so that you can fold the basket cover easily; picture 9.

  9. Make creases along the pencil lines on the paper so that you can fold it properly; pictures 10 and 11.

  10. Paste glue only in the middle of the basket cover on both sides, leaving the openings unsealed; see picture 12.

  11. Cut a paper strip measuring 6 inches long and 1 centimetre wide. Draw any pattern or paste stickers on it, then attach it to the glued sides of the basket; see picture 13.
