Spain’s fuel supply is not at risk at the moment and the country is in a “privileged situation” compared with European peers, Reuters reports quoting Energy Minister Sara Aagesen, amid a supply crisis sparked by the US-Israeli war against Iran and subsequent blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

Asked whether the Spanish government can guarantee the supply of kerosene, diesel and gasoline, Aagesen has replied in the affirmative.

“Our situation is not only robust, it’s privileged,” she says, thanks to a fleet of eight refineries producing 80 per cent of the kerosene consumed in Spain.

“This is a very advantageous situation compared to many European partners, where the opposite is true: they are dependent on imports,” she says, adding that Spanish refiners have not suffered from supply disruptions.
