Lufthansa is preparing for possible shortages of jet fuel outside Europe, with the airline seeing early warning signs in Asia as the Middle East war disrupts supply routes, Chief Executive Officer Carsten Spohr has said in an interview, according to Al Jazeera.
“If shortages in the kerosene supply occur, they are likely to be felt first outside Europe”, Spohr told the FAZ newspaper, adding that some Asian airports were no longer accepting additional flights because of limited fuel availability.
The German airline group has hedged more than 80 per cent of its fuel needs for 2026, Spohr said.
