Yechiel Leiter, Israel’s ambassador to the US, has pledged retaliation following two Iranian missile attacks on the Israeli cities Dimona and Arad, Al Jazeera reports.

“The response is going to be to continue with this campaign until we bring this regime to its knees,” Leiter has told CNN. “We cannot live anymore with a country that is malign, that has intent on destroying us — that declares it’s going to destroy us all the time, and is now firing ballistic missiles into all its neighbours.”

When asked how to explain the attacks in light of US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s claims that Iran’s missile capabilities have been destroyed, Leiter turned the question back to Iran, saying “the Iranians lie … these are murderers who lie”.

“They said they don’t have intercontinental ballistic missiles,” he continued. “Well, now they proved that they do have them.”
