KARACHI: A man was shot dead and his brother wounded, allegedly by their own sibling, over a domestic dispute in the Baloch Colony area on Saturday morning, police said.

They identified the deceased as Bahauddin, 45, and said his 43-year-old brother, Moinuddin, sustained bullet wounds.

Tipu Sultan SHO Azhar Khan said the brothers used to have frequent quarrels over family matters. Early on Saturday, the suspect, identified as Jalaluddin, allegedly got a pistol from someone and opened fire on his brothers. He managed to flee the scene.

The body and the wounded were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), where the wounded man was stated to be out of danger.

Four ‘street criminals’ held

Four suspected street criminals were arrested in Sherpao Colony on Saturday.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Rangers carried out a raid and arrested the suspects identified as Imran, alias Muchar; Ghufran; Nazeer and Mohammad Zeeshan.

A Rangers spokesperson said in a statement that the held suspects belonged to “Amiri Dacoit gang”.

Two 9mm pistols, one motorcycle, three cell phones and cash were recovered from their possession.

The held suspect Imran had allegedly been involved in a Rs47 million robbery, snatching one and half kilogrammes of gold from a jewellery shop and 800 cell phone snatching incidents.

Another held suspect, Ghufran had shot dead a citizen over resistance during a robbery in Landhi-89.

The held suspects were “habitual criminals” and there were several FIRs registered against them at different police stations, the spokesperson said.
