TOBA TEK SINGH: Two persons were reportedly killed and four others were injured in separate accidents due to fog on Thursday.
In one incident, police said that Shahbaz (45), Zarqa (30) and Ashraf (40) of Chak 315 JB Kala Pahar were coming from their village to the city in a rickshaw. The rickshaw was run over by a truck due to fog coming from the opposite direction near Chak 302 JB on the Toba Road in Gojra. As a result, all three were seriously injured and the rickshaw was badly damaged.
They were shifted to the Gojra THQ Hospital where Shahbaz succumbed to his injuries.
In another fog-related accident, a motorcycle and a rickshaw collided head-on on the Khikha Road in Toba. Biker Abdul Sattar (17) was critically injured and died on the way to the DHQ Hospital.
Meanwhile, a truck and a coaster had a head on collision near Chak 288 GB on the Rajana-Pirmahal Road. Coaster driver Javed Iqbal (40) and passenger Sadia Pervez (28) were seriously wounded and were shifted to the DHQ Hospital.
BOOKED: Police booked a youth for allegedly raping an eight-year-old boy in Gojra on Thursday.
Police claimed that the victim was playing in the street when a youth of the same locality lured him to the roof of his house. There, police claimed that he forcibly raped him and threatened to kill him.
Locals gathered upon hearing the child’s screams and the accused managed to escape from the spot.
The Gojra City Police registered a case and started searching for the accused.
encounters: Two alleged robbers were killed in separate encounters in Gojra and Nankana Sahib on Thursday.
In one incident, a Crime Control Department (CCD) official said that Toba CCD in-charge Inspector Faryad Ali Cheema was on patrol along with his team on the Jhang Road when he stopped three motorcycle-riding suspects near Chak 307 JB.
He claimed that when they saw the police party, they opened fire on them, which was retaliated. He claimed that when the firing stopped, a search operation was conducted and one person was found injured, while his two accomplices managed to escape.
He claimed that the injured suspect later died due to his injuries. He was identified as Athar Wali alias Azhar Shah, a resident of Agoki, Sialkot, and he was wanted in several robbery cases in Sialkot. Police claimed that he received bullets fired by his own accomplices.
In a separate incident, police claimed that a police party of Mandi Faizabad Circle headed by DSP Ayub Sahi confronted two alleged robbers on a motorcycle. Police claimed that they opened fire on the policemen and attempted to flee. After exchange of firing, police claimed to have found one suspect dead while his other accomplice managed to flee.
The deceased was identified as Ghulam Mustafa alias Mustee, who was wanted by the Mangtanwala and the Mandi Faizabad Police in more than a dozen robberies. Police claimed that he was killed by the firing of his accomplice.
