BAHAWALPUR: The Crime Control Department (CCD) Multan region claimed to have killed two dacoits and arrested six others in injured condition after seven encounters in the limits of Multan, Kahrorepucca, Lodhran and Khanewal on Thursday.
According to the PRO, two dacoits were killed in separate encounters.
Near Pul Naseamwali in Multan, a CCD team was allegedly fired upon by Muhammad Bilal, a resident of Raja Ram in Shujabad, and an unidentified accomplice who fled the scene.
Bilal was found critically injured after the exchange of fire and later succumbed to his wounds, as confirmed by Rescue 1122. His criminal record showed involvement in 40 cases of dacoity, robbery, and vehicle-lifting. A 30-bore pistol was recovered from him.
In the second encounter at Qaimpur Pul, Ghulam Abbas, a resident of Khanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, was seriously injured and later died. He was involved in over 30 cases. A 30-bore pistol was also recovered from his possession.
The PRO said Constable Muhammad Usama, who was wearing a bullet-proof jacket, escaped unhurt.
The CCD also arrested six dacoits who sustained injuries in separate encounters. The arrested suspects are: Zulfiqar Ali alias Jealo (19 cases), Shaukat of Chak No. 40, Kahror Pacca (21 cases), Samar Ali alias Samri of Pul Thokar, Kabirwala (14 cases), Muhammad Shehbaz of Chak 6/T, Multan (arrested near Jamesabad, Khanewal), Faisal of 6/T Multan (arrested at 28 Mor, Khanewal), Muhammad Sajid alias Juma of Taunsa Sharif, DG Khan (arrested at Baggi Pul, Shujabad).
The CCD teams recovered firearms from all six injured dacoits, along with a snatched motorcycle recovered from Muhammad Shehbaz.
All accompanying accomplices managed to escape under the cover of darkness and were booked by the police.
SHOT DEAD: A man was allegedly shot dead by one of his wives on Wighamal Road in Kahrorepucca, Lodhran district, on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Muhammad Akram (28), who reportedly had two wives. According to Rescue 1122, who arrived on an emergency call, people gathered at the scene told rescuers that Akram had a family dispute with one of his wives ‘S.’ Following the argument, ‘S’ allegedly shot her husband and fled the scene.
Police officials arrived, shifted the body to THQ Hospital Kahrorepucca for a postmortem examination, and initiated legal proceedings.
Police said a murder case would be registered against the fleeing wife after the preliminary investigation is completed.
Forensic officials have been summoned to collect evidence from the scene.
