BAJAUR: The participants of a grand jirga of Salarzai tribe held here the other day decided to expel those found involved in facilitating militant groups in the region by setting ablaze their houses.

Scores of elders of various sub tribes and Salarzai tehsil areas attended the jirga held at PTI MPA Anwar Zeb Khan’s residence in Raghagan area.

To strengthen the law and order situation in Salarzai tehsil, the participants of the jirga jointly decided that no one would be allowed to disturb the hard-earned peace in the region.

“We the elders of the entire Salarzai tribe and areas are united in our resolve to keep our region safe from militant activities and will stand together in defence of our land,” said the participants.

After detailed discussion, the jirga participants agreed on a seven-point joint declaration aimed at maintaining law and order in the entire region.

According to the declaration, besides expelling all those found involved in facilitating any militants groups from the region, their house would also be torched.

Moreover, as per the declaration, the involved person would be fined Rs5 million and all their family members would be declared enemies of the entire Salarzai tribe.

According to the declaration, if the government and the authorities needed any action in the region, it would be done only during the day, no such activity would be allowed in the night.

The declaration added that the Salarzai region would establish an armed watch system to monitor undesired elements and for swiftly response to any militant activity.

It further stated that there would be no movement of local people in the entire region in the night.

The declaration demanded a judicial inquiry into the operations from 2002 to 2025 in the district by judges of Supreme Court of Pakistan.

It also stated that all those persons who had been arrested in Salarzai area for anti-peace activities should be presented before the general public.
