SAHIWAL: A man stabbed to death his father-in-law who intervened to stop violence between his daughter and son-in-law at Chak 92/6-R, tehsil Sahiwal.

The killer succeeded in running away along with his brother Allah Dita. Report said Shumaila married Waqas and she was living with her in-laws in the same village. On Sunday she was severely tortured by her husband. Meanwhile, her father Muhammad Ashraf rushed to the house to save his daughter. On seeing his father-in-law in his house, Waqas, in connivance with his brother Allah Ditta, attacked him with a dagger and killed him. Farid Town SHO Amir Farooq told Dawn a murder case had been registered and the main accused, Waqas, was arrested.

In another incident, an elderly man was found murdered at his home in village Bahiwal, tehsil Pakpattan. The victim, identified as Nazir Ahmed (70), was reportedly living alone. Neighbours discovered his body and alerted the authorities after noticing signs of violence. Preliminary reports suggest that Nazir’s throat was slit with a sharp-edged weapon.

SP Investigation Ghulam Abbas and DSP Inamul Haq reached the scene and initiated a forensic examination. The body was shifted to DHQ Hospital Pakpattan for a post-mortem.

ACCIDENTS: Three persons died in separate road accidents during the last 24 hours.

In the first incident, two brothers lost their lives and one was critically injured near Chandni Chowk on Old Harappa Road, Chichawatni, during the early hours of Sunday. Eyewitnesses said the accident occurred when a speeding truck collided with a motorcycle carrying Usman (23), Adnan (30), and Asad (35)—residents of Sabzi Mandi, Kamalia. They were going to Chichawatni when the truck struck them. Rescue 1122 confirmed that Asad and Adnan died on impact while Usman sustained critical injuries. The truck driver fled the scene, leaving the victims behind.

The injured and the deceased were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Chichawatni.

In the second incident, a bus crushed a BS student who was crossing the road near Chak 171/9-L, Chichawatni.

The bus driver escaped from the scene. Saddar and Ghaziabad police separately started investigation.
