Qatar’s foreign ministry has condemned Israeli plans to seize control of the Ibrahimi Mosque in the occupied West Bank, calling the move “a blatant violation” of international law.

“The State of Qatar strongly condemns the Israeli occupation’s plan to transfer the administration and supervision of the Ibrahimi Mosque from the Palestinian Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs and the Hebron Municipality to the Jewish Religious Council in the Kiryat Arba settlement,” the ministry said in a statement on X.

“Qatar views this move as a blatant violation of international law and United Nations resolutions, and as a deliberate provocation against Muslims worldwide.”

The ministry reaffirmed Doha’s rejection of any attempts to alter the historical and legal status quo of the Ibrahimi Mosque and other holy sites in the occupied Palestinian territories.

“It urges the international community to fulfil its moral and legal responsibilities by protecting religious sanctities in Palestine and pressuring the Israeli occupation authorities to abandon their efforts to erase the Palestinian people’s identity,” the statement added.
