MIANWALI: Rescue 1122 retrieved on Saturday the body of a girl who, with her father and brother, had drowned in Chashma-Jhelum Link Canal on Thursday.

Munawar (45), his son Anees (13) and daughter Shireen (11) drowned on Thursday morning in the canal near Harnoli.

They were collecting firewood from the banks of the canal when Shireen slipped into the canal water and his brother jumped to save her, and both started drowning. Seeing this, Munawar also jumped in to save them, but all of them drowned.

Some passersby called Rescue 1122, which retrieved the bodies of Munawar and Anees on Friday and that of Shireen on Saturday morning.
