LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday recorded partial statements of the prosecution witnesses in the Jinnah House attack case pertaining to May 9 riots in Lahore.

ATC-I Judge Manzer Ali Gill conducted the case proceedings at Kot Lakhpat jail, during which Judicial Magistrate Ghulam Jabir Ali, who conducted the identification parade of the 237 accused persons, recorded a partial statement.

Additionally, a doctor who treated 53 persons injured in the Jinnah House incident also recorded his partial statement.

During the proceedings in the jail, the accused persons in custody marked their attendance, while those on bail also appeared before the court.

The judge adjourned further hearing till June 23 for recording the remaining testimonies of the prosecution witnesses.

Sarwar Road police had registered FIR No 96 against the PTI leaders and workers on charges of attacking and vandalising the Jinnah House, which also serves as residence of Lahore corps commander, during the May 9 protests erupting after the arrest of former prime minister Imran Khan in a graft case by the NAB from the Islamabad High Court premises.

Besides terrorism charge under section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) 1997, various offences including waging or attempting to wage a war or abetting waging of a war against Pakistan, abetting mutiny, or attempting to seduce a soldier from his duty and rioting, were added to the FIR.
