Al Jazeera’s Tareq Abu Azoum, reporting from Deir el-Balah, syas he witnessed a surge of Israeli attacks on Gaza despite the current escalation between Iran and Israel.

“The Israeli military gunned down five Palestinians near aid distribution points in Netzarim Corridor and Rafah city in southern Gaza.

“People have told us that the Israeli military did not warn the hungry crowds before opening fire on them, leading to devastating civilian casualties,” he said.

More than 50 Palestinians have been reported wounded.

“What makes it more tragic is the normalisation of these attacks as people believe that humanitarian areas would be safe. However, they have turned out to be some sort of new “death traps”, as people are describing them.

“Humanitarian groups say attacking and endangering aid seekers completely undermines every principle of humanitarian work in Gaza,” he said.
