TAXILA: Six people, including four from the same family, died and two others were injured in three incidents in Taxila and Attock on Tuesday, according to police sources.

According to police, five people lost their lives in water-related incidents. In the first gloomy incident, four persons, including two minors belonging to the same family, drowned in a seasonal stream near Dhok Jhando area in the limits of Taxila Police Station on Tuesday.

According to police reports, the victims had gone to the stream for bathing and fishing when the tragic incident occurred. Two of the deceased have been identified as Amjad Khan, 40, and Khaliq Khan, 55. The other victims were identified as Izhar, 15, and Waqas, 12.

The local residents retrieved the bodies on a self-help basis before rescue officials could arrive at the scene and shifted the bodies to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Taxila. The victims came from Rawalpindi to enjoy bathing in the stream, police said.

Separately, a teenage boy committed suicide by jumping into Ghazi Barotha water channel near Barazai area in the limits of Hazro Police station on Tuesday.

Police sources, while quoting eyewitness accounts, 17-year-old, Muhammad Touseef, came to the water channel, parked his motorcycle, and jumped into the water. Later, his body was retrieved by local volunteers and handed over to his family for burial. The reason behind the suicide was not ascertained.

Moreover, a motorcyclist was killed while two others were injured when two motorcycles collided head-on near Meera Sharif in the limits of Pindigheb Police Station on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Muhammad Tashfeen, while the injured were identified as Muhammad Aqdas and Rehmat Ullah. Respective Police registered separate cases and launched further investigations.
