ISLAMABAD: Justice Munib Akhtar, the next senior-most judge of the Supreme Court, on Friday took oath as the acting chief justice in the absence of CJP Justice Yahya Afridi, who is abroad.

The oath was administered by Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail in a ceremony at the Supreme Court building attended by judges, senior lawyers and officers of the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan.

SC Registrar Salim Khan conducted the proceedings of oath-taking ceremony. Officers and staff of the court were also present on the occasion.
