PESHAWAR: Peshawar Electric Supply Company officials and elected representatives have agreed to install power meters in different rural areas of the provincial capital in order to reduce the duration of loadshedding and control line losses.

The decision was taken at a joint meeting here on Friday, according to a statement.

Peshawar division commissioner Riaz Khan Mehsud chaired the meeting, which was also attended by Pesco chief executive officer Akhtar Hameed.

The participants agreed to start installing new meters in rural localities under the supervision of the area assistant commissioners and local lawmakers.

The meeting decided to form consultation committees to immediately provide at least 10,000 electricity meters for installation in the Matni and Badhber localities.

Similarly, the meeting decided to fill vacant posts in the power company to overcome staff shortage.
