ISLAMABAD: Robber looted a private bank in broad daylight in Islamabad on Thursday and made off with Rs4 million in cash.

According to the police, two robbery incidents involving a pharmacy and a house were also reported in the federal capital on the same day.

In the first incident, six armed men allegedly overpowered the bank’s security guards and held the staff at gunpoint while pulling off the show.

They then reportedly looted cash worth over Rs4 million and escaped. The bank is located a mere 800 metres from the Islamabad police’s Crime Intelligence Agency (CIA) office and about 1.5 kilometres from the Industrial Area police station.

The police said they registered a case and started an investigation.

In another incident, a gang of three robbers allegedly looted cash worth Rs890,000 along with valuables from the house of a citizen named Shafqat Hussain Shah within the Golra police station’s jurisdiction.

The robbers reportedly barged into the house from the backside and held Mr Shah and his wife at gunpoint.

They looted cash worth Rs890,000 and valuables including a wristwatch and a pistol from the house and escaped.

Meanwhile, a gang of robbers looted a pharmacy located within the Khanna police station’s limits.

Police were told that four armed persons entered Khan Pharmacy owned by Dr Saqib Khan and held the pharmacists and customers at gunpoint.

They reportedly looted cash and mobile phones and escaped.
