CHITRAL: The remote and lonely village in Karimabad valley stands disconnected from the rest of the district via road as its only artery has been blocked by huge boulders after sliding from the hill it passed through.

Shahab Ali, a resident of the village, told Dawn by telephone that villagers had been completely disconnected from other areas for the last two days as the road was blocked even for pedestrians while no person could neither enter the village nor leave it.

He said that people coming back from Chitral city and other areas to the village had gone back to different villages due to blockade of the road to stay put with relatives there till reopening of the road.

Mr. Ali said that the village faced shortage of daily use items, which were supplied from the nearby Chitral city on daily basis due to their high demand during the month of Ramazan.

He said that the village road was one of the most dangerous and perilous roads of Chitral, which continuously passed through mountains for more than 15 kilometres starting from Bokhtuli village on Garam Chashma Road.

Lower Chitral Deputy Commissioner Muhsin Iqbal, when contacted, said that the road would be shortly reopened to vehicular traffic for which he had directed authorities concerned.
