MANSEHRA: The Jamaat-i-Islami on Wednesday announced that it would revitalise its movement for the creation of Hazara province soon after Eidul Fitr.

“Our party has peacefully been struggling for the creation of Hazara Province for decades and will revive this movement in collaboration with like-minded parties across the country,” divisional president of JI in Hazara Abdul Razzaq Abbasi told a presser here. Accompanied by district emir of the party Jamil Ahmad Jehangiri, Mr Abbasi said that the formation of more federating units was the need of the hour to steer the country out of its current political and economic crises.

“The Hazara division, which consists of eight districts, is rich in natural resources. All major energy initiatives, whether supplying electricity to the country or under construction, have been executed in the Hazara Division,” he said.

The JI leader said his party held a marathon meeting earlier in the day and decided to approach like-minded political parties and other groups for joint efforts for the cause of the Hazara province.

“Though leaders of mainstream political parties have publicly supported the province’s status for Hazara, no concrete steps have been taken for the cause,” he said.

Mr Abbasi said that his party’s activists had always supported protest calls given for the Hazara province and would continue doing so in the future.

“We have planned to revitalise our Hazara province movement and will stage rallies and public meetings across the division after Eidul Fitr,” he said.
