RAWALPINDI: A teenage pregnant girl was allegedly murdered while a man was gunned down by his rivals over an old enmity in the Civil Lines police area, the police said on Friday.

Syed Ahmad, a resident of Khayaban-i-Sir Syed, lodged an FIR with the police that his 17-year-old daughter was married to his nephew Zardad Khan. He said on receiving a phone call from his uncle, he rushed to Holy Family Hospital (HFH) and found his daughter’s corpse lying there with his brother-in-law and sister standing beside the body. 

He said he was informed by his brother-in-law that his daughter, who was eight month pregnant, died after scaffolding fell on her. On seeing his daughter’s body and observing marks of strangulation around her neck and contradictory statements of his brother-in-law, he suspected that his daughter was murdered by her husband and his brother-in-law.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Fiaz lodged an FIR with the Civil Lines police stating that his son Ahsan Islam, 33, was leaving a mosque after offering prayers while he along with his two relatives were standing across the road when their rival Ali appeared on the scene and shot his son and escaped.

He said the injured died while being shifted to Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) by Rescue 1122. About the motive of the killing, he said his son had wrongly been implicated in the murder case of Ali’s brother.

Meanwhile, samples of three male suspects arrested in the rape and murder case of a 21-year-old girl in the limits of Jatli police have been submitted by the police to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency for DNA testing.

The police said that the DNA reports will be received in a few days. The investigation of the five suspects, including two women, was underway. They will be presented in court on Saturday after their four-day remand is completed.

It may be recalled that a 21-year-old orphan girl was staying at her brother-in-law and aunt’s house in the Natha Chhatar area, where she was allegedly subjected to sexual abuse, tortured and later poisoned to death and buried to hide the crime.

In another incident, the police have also approached court seeking permission for the exhumation of the grave of a first-year student who was allegedly killed for honour on January 4.
