LAHORE: An armed security guard of a private housing society reportedly fired multiple shots and killed a lion when it came out on the road here on Saturday.

The police and wildlife officials launched investigations as to how the wild animal reached the road, threatening lives of people.

According to initial inquiries, the pet lion was kept by a resident of Shalimar housing society, Harbanspura, Ali Imran, and suddenly it left the house and reached a road.

People in fear rushed for shelter when the lion roared and chased some of them.

The situation turned scary as many families including children were playing at the greenbelt.

On finding them crying for help, a security guard of the society rushed there and fired shots at the roaring lion.

The animal suffered multiple injuries and died instantly.

The police said that they reached the site along with the wildlife officers on being alerted.
