KARACHI: A huge fire erupted in a warehouse in Model Colony on Sunday evening following a gas cylinder explosion, police and rescue services officials said.

Rescue 1122 official Hassaan Khan told Dawn that some workers also lived at the warehouse at Lasi Para in Moinabad.

He said they used a gas cylinder for cooking and the blaze broke out after it exploded in the courtyard of the warehouse.

The fire spread to two residential homes close to the warehouse and their walls destroyed, according to the official.

No one was hurt in the incident, he added.

He said that five fire tenders managed to control the inferno after the hectic efforts of three hours.

He said that the warehouse was completely destroyed.

Meanwhile, a fast-moving dumper truck ran over and killed two motorcyclists in Baldia Town late on Saturday night. The driver managed to escape, police said.
