BADIN: A well-known doctor of Nindo Sher was gunned down on Sunday by his nephew when he was examining patients in his private clinic at Nindo Sher taluqa of Badin.

The armed assailant identified as Sikandar Ali alias Pappu Memon also injured Hyder Ali Memon and Sherbaad Memon, the brother and nephew respectively of victim Dr Abid Memon.

After the incident, the attacker reportedly went to the Nindo Sher police station, confessed to the killing and handed himself in to police, along with the weapon of crime.

On receiving information, police reached the crime scene and transported the injured to the Health Center of Nindo Sher. After first aid, they were taken to the Sikandar Ali Mandhro hospital Badin where the doctors pronounced Dr Memon dead. Condition of the other injured was stated to be out of danger.

Police said no FIR was registered as no one came forward to file the case.

Some villagers said the killing was the result of a monitory depute over property. The assailant reportedly had a personal grudge against the victim, who was his uncle, over agricultural lands and shops in Nindo Sher Town.

After completion of medico-legal formalities. the body was handed over to his relatives.

Dr Abid has left behind a son, Dr Shahrakh, daughter Dr Zahra Memon, and a widow.

The town was completely shutdown after the incident.
