French Foreign Affairs Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said that he hoped next week’s US presidential election would pass off peacefully, while adding it was not clear to him if this would be the case, Reuters reports.
“I hope it takes place in a peaceful manner, which does not appear to me to be entirely guaranteed,” he told BFM TV, adding that violence surrounding the ballot would be devastating for democracy.
Barrot added that France would work with whoever won, between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
